GENERAL RULES FOR ALL DIVISIONS
These rules are for drivers only and are not intended to impose any responsibility on Murphy Speedway.
Murphy Speedway shall incur no liability to any party, whether a participant, spectator, guest, or business invitee.
By participating in an event at Murphy Speedway, competitors agree to accept and abide by these rules in their entirety.
The intent of these rules is to ensure that each competitor is treated fairly and that each event is conducted consistently. However, since there are many uncertainties involved in the sport of automobile racing, incidents may occur on the speedway that are not specifically covered by these rules. In such cases Murphy Speedway reserves the right to add, delete or modify any rule at any time in order to maintain fair and equal competition or in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
Many calls made by track officials during a race event are judgment calls. Judgment calls may not be appealed and will not be reviewed or changed after a race event.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE TO READ THE FOLLOWING.
GENERAL
First time competitors with minor violations will be allowed to run one race in a division by adding weight.
Track Official may inspect all participating racecars at any time.
Fire suits are mandatory in all divisions.
Shirt and shoes are required at all times in pit area.
Entry Fee: Admission to restricted (pit) areas is an entry fee this not an admission for entertainment. There will be entry fees for special events.
All drivers must give social security number, name and address on the first race meet. If theses items are not on file, no money will be paid.
Owners and drivers are to keep up with their winning, expenses, and anything else pertaining to income tax, regardless of amount.
Any driver or car owner that does not collect their winnings the night of the race will not be paid.
Anyone wishing to enter the pit area must sign a release form and purchase a pit pass regardless of age, no exceptions.
No driver, car owner, or mechanic shall have any claims for damages, expenses, or otherwise against Murphy Speedway or its officials.
Anyone caught drinking, or using illegal drugs will be suspended for two race weeks as a first offense. Second offense-four race weeks. Third offense-suspended for rest of season. However, nothing shall prohibit the track officials administering any penalty, including immediate removal from the premises or permanent suspension to driver. Penalties can be administered to owner, or pit crew members whose conduct,(in complete discretion of the track officials), represents a threat to the orderliness or the safety of others.
Drivers will be held responsible for their entire crew.
It will be the driver’s responsibility to be lined up prior to the race. If the car is not in it’s correct starting position after one pace lap, it will start at the rear of the line up. Line-ups will be posted on the board located on the pit generator gate.
All cars entering, exiting or traveling through the pits should do so at a slow, moderate speed.
In the event of unnecessary roughness or fighting race will be stopped. The driver will be removed and fined $500.00. Track official will make final judgment.
Car numbers must be at least 18 inches high and inches wide. Numbers must be on the top and both sides of the car. If you do not have numbers you will not be scored. The top number must face the right side of the car or outside of the racetrack.
Officials reserve the right to change car numbers to avoid duplication.
All weight must be bolted on securely, and painted white, with car number.
All cars must have working starter, operated from inside car.
It is mandatory that all cars have at least 5 lb,. Fire extinguisher ready to use.
Safety belts 3 inch wide, 5 point harness is mandatory. Must be bolted to roll cage with no less than grade eight 3/8 bolts. The belts must come from behind the driver.
Drive shaft loops are mandatory.
Batteries must be located in a safe position.
No mirrors in any class.
No four wheel drives.
All drivers must have a valid State Driver license.
TIME LIMITS
All races shall be subject to a limit of one minute per lap (i.e. 15 lap race has a time limit of 15 minutes). If the time limit expires during the race the following procedures will be used.
A. If the race is currently under caution, the race will be completed under a green-white-checkered condition.
B. If the race is under green, the race will continue until next caution, and then be finished under green-white-checkered condition.
CONDUCT OF RACE
To be the official leader of a race you must have completed the last official green flag lap.
Drivers will be paid according to laps completed.
No courtesy laps will be given.
Cars must be fully prepared to race when lining up. Cars needing correction will return to the pits and start in the rear of the field.
No racecar repair will be performed on the track. Repairs on the track will result in the car being restarted on the rear of the field.
Any car causing three cautions must go to the pits.
Any car entering the pit area during race must restart at the rear of the field even on red flag.
Any car stopping on the track must go to the rear unless trying to avoid caution cars.
Refusing to obey track officials could result in deduction of laps or suspension from track.
We do not race back to the caution flag for any reason except for the last lap. Once white flag is displayed the race will end at the conclusion of that lap.
Any car going to the pits during a caution will restart at rear of the field.
Cars involved in a incident that brings out a caution will restart at the rear of the field.
The pole car sets the pace on starts. It is the responsibility of the car on the outside of the front row to remain beside the pole sitter.
The track reserves the right to go to a single file start after three attempted starts.
If the caution comes out before all cars complete the first lap, the race will be restarted double file.
FLAGS
Green- Indication for the race to begin.
Yellow-Caution, slow down a hazard on the racing surface. Cars will be aligned according to the last complete green flag lap. If caution is displayed after the white flag is displayed the race will end when the leader completes the lap.
Blue/Yellow- This flag will be displayed when a car is about to be lapped by the leader. Upon receiving this flag move to the inside of the racing surface. If you refuse to obey this flag it will be followed by the Black flag.
Black- Consultation flag will indicate you need to get off the racing surface move to the area between turns one and two to talk with race official.
Red- Stop, the race has been halted for safety; move either to the flag stand area or the entrance to the racetrack in turn two. If displayed on the last lap, stop, race will finish with a green-white-checkered.
White- One lap to go. Once this flag is displayed the race will conclude upon completion of that lap.
Checkered- Race over.
PROTESTS
Visual protest must be before qualifying, or first heat race of the night.
A. Visual protest must be in writing and will be accompanied by a $25.00 fee.
B. The following must be addressed in writing. Car Number, Class, and Rule in question.
Transmission protest $200.00
All classes $400.00 to pull one cylinder head. This includes the topside of the engine. $200.00 fee for the next cylinder head. $150.00 fee for camshaft. $150.00 fee for oil pan.
Protest fees must be posted no later than five minutes after feature race. Protested items must be in writing. Technical inspector will receive a percentage of the protest fee, weather legal or illegal.
No one allowed in the protest area, except the car owner, his crew, Murphy Speedway official inspector, an additional track official, and the owner or driver who is protesting.
Only the car that finished one position behind may protest a car.
POINTS
Points will be awarded in each class as follows.
Fastest Qualifier awarded 1 point
Heat race winner awarded 1 point
Feature race points awarded.

Transmission- O.E.M. or Racing Transmission. Must have working clutch and reverse.
Engine- 362 cubic inch maximum.
A. Blocks- Steel only
B. Rods- Any aftermarket steel rod (no titanium, or aluminum)
C. Steel Heads- any 23 degree cast iron head only (no 14 degree heads). Titanium valves permitted – 2.08 “ Intake and 1.60 exhaust maximum. Valve stem dia. 11/32” minimum. Angle milling permitted. Heads must retain valve spacing and angle they are supplied with. Flat top piston only.
D. SPEC Heads- can be flat milled only. 2.08 Int. and 1.60 Exh maximum. Stainless valves only (no titanium in SPEC Heads). Minimum valve stem dia. 11/32”. No alterations of heads. Except head may be machined for push rod clearance. Dome pistons allowed.
E. Brodix part numbers: Chevy 46221/Mopar 46222/Ford 46223.
F. Intake- Any cast aluminum intake (no sheet metal or homemade intakes, no spacers between intake and heads.
G. Camshaft- Flat tappet or roller. (see weight).
H. Oiling system- Dry Sump Allowed.
I. Carburetor- One four barrel. 4150 series only.

J. Steel Head Engine – 210 cc intake runner volume max. ½” match port – bowl may be worked to guide. Flat tappet Cam, 2.02 Int. and 1.60 Exh. – 2250 lbs.
K. Steel Head Engine – any 23 degree steel head – ½” match port – bowl may be worked to the guide. Roller Cam, titanium valves allowed – 2350 lbs.
L. SPEC Head Engine – No Titanium Valves –Not restricted to HV-1000 intake - 2350 lbs.
M. Mopar Steel Head – any O.E.M. cast iron head, exhaust 75 cc – intake 200 cc maximum.
N. Ford – Any O.E.M. head, part number M6049-N351 is the only SVO head allowed.

Ignition- MSD Box may be bought by any driver finishing in the top five for $300 after the race. Track also reserves the right to buy any MSD box for $300.
Exhaust System- No Muffler Required.

SPORTSMAN

MODIFIED STREET
Body- American made, rear wheel drive only. Wheelbase of 104” minimum from center of front spindle to centerline of rear axle. Bodies must be stock or stock in appearance. Steel, fiberglass, or aluminum stock appearing aftermarket bodies are permitted. Stock or stock appearing front and rear. Interior may be enclosed. No protruding bumper bars on front or rear. No external sidebars.
Spoiler- 8” x 72” width max – any angle – must be transparent

A. Must have stock production front snout, must be stock snout from radiator to rear of engine block.
B. Must run stock production front lower control arms.
C. Leaf spring or three-link rear end allowed.
D. One spring for each wheel allowed. Spring minimum five-inch diameter.
E. No coil over allowed. Springs must be mounted independent of shocks.
F. Racing shocks allowed steel or aluminum.
G. No lift bars or torque arms. Pull bar with rubber biscuit over rear end allowed, no spring bars.
H. Roll Cage- Full roll cage required. Minimum of three bars in driver door and minimum of two in passenger door. Must have support bar that crosses behind driver, side to side at shoulder height, with properly mounted safety harness. All roll bars inside driver’s compartment must be padded. Stock appearing front and rear covers allowed. Stock front and rear bumpers only. No convertibles or T-bodies allowed. No glass, plastic, or emblems. Must have four steel bars vertically welded in windshield space directly in front of driver. No bump bars or tube frames allowed. Passenger side interior may be enclosed, but must have inspection hole with cover, and stock floor pan must remain on passenger side.
Spoiler- Not allowed.
Chassis- Stock steering components only. May run steering quickeners. Stock suspension, no weight jackscrews, stock appearing shocks allowed. Shocks must be mounted in original position, no coilovers allowed anywhere on vehicle. No frame alterations, except frame may be tied together, this modification will not be outside of excising frame rails. Stock-appearing aftermarket springs permitted.
R. Roll Cage- Full six point roll cage required. Minimum of three bars in driver door and minimum of two in passenger door. Must have support bar that crosses behind driver, side to side at shoulder height, with properly mounted safety harness. All roll bars inside driver’s compartment must be padded. Roll cage must be welded in or properly bolted in using ¼ “ steel plates.

SUPER MODIFIED FOUR CYLINDERS
Body- Stock appearing fiberglass or wedge type aluminum bodies.
Spoiler- 8 inch maximum height, not to protrude past body on outsides.
Chassis- Mild steel or Chrome Molly (no aluminum frames).
S. Roll Cage- Full roll cage required. Minimum of three bars in driver door and minimum of two in passenger door. Must have support bar that crosses behind driver, side to side at shoulder height, with properly mounted safety harness. All roll bars inside driver’s compartment must be padded. Roll cage must be welded in or properly bolted in using ¼ “ steel plates.
Wheel Base- 100 inch minimum.
Fuel Cell- Enclosed in steel can, with minimum of two 2” wide steel straps.
Fuel Pump- Mechanical or Electric with oil pressure switch.
Fuel- Gasoline (no nitrous or additives)

Wheels- Steel wheels four bolt pattern, 13 inch diameter 10 inch wide, bead locks allowed.

Transmission- Any OEM type only, must have working reverse.

MINI STOCK – PONY
Body- American or Foreign, rear wheel drive only. OEM firewall, floor pan, with front and rear inner fenders. Stock or stock appearing aftermarket front and rear covers allowed. Stock front and rear bumpers only. No convertibles or T-bodies allowed. No glass, plastic, or emblems. Must have four steel bars vertically welded in windshield space directly in front of driver. No bump bars or tube frames allowed. Passenger side interior may be enclosed, but must have inspection hole with cover, and stock floor pan must remain on passenger side. Body panels may be replaced with steel or aluminum sheet metal, but must retain stock appearance.
Spoiler- Not Allowed
Chassis- Stock steering components only. May run steering quickeners. Stock suspension, no weight jackscrews, no racing shocks allowed. Shocks must be mounted in original position, no coilovers allowed anywhere on vehicle. Fuel Cell- Fuel cells required, must be securely mounted with two 2” x 1/8” steel straps.
Fuel Pump- Mechanical or electric with oil pressure switch.
Fuel- Gasoline (no nitrous or additives)
Tires- Any tire, 23.0/8.0-13 maximum. Must stick 60 at any time.
Wheels- 13” x 8” maximum steel only. No bead locks.
Driveshaft- steel type must be painted white. Drive shaft loop mandatory.
Differential- Stock OEM rear end only, any gear ratio allowed
Transmission- OEM type manual transmissions only with working forward and reverse. Bell housing must have a 2” hole in the bottom approx., 1 ½ to 2 inches from front edge. Stock steel flywheels and clutches only. No front wheel drives
Engine- In line four cylinder only. No marine engines. . Foreign cars may run aluminum heads or block only if car was manufactured with engine.
a. Blocks - Stock OEM, no aftermarket blocks.
b. Crankshaft - Any Steel Crankshaft
c. Bore - Stock OEM plus .072 overbore.
d. Rods - Any Steel Rod, no titanium or aluminum
e. Heads - Stock OEM, no aftermarket heads.
f. Intake - Any Intake.
g. Camshaft - Any camshaft.
h. Oiling system - Stock OEM.
i. Carburetor - One two barrel carburetor (2300 Holley style only)
Weight - 2500cc engine 2300 lbs. Any engine over 2500cc add 1 lb per cc to weight.

Ignition – Aftermarket electronic ignition allowed, no crank triggers.
Exhaust System- Header allowed, must exit to outside of car

FRONT WHEEL DRIVE COMPACT
Body- Completely stock, front to rear, front wheel drive, compact cars only. All glass, chrome, plastic, etc., must be removed. Must have four steel bars welded directly in front of driver in windshield opening. Aluminum racing seat and safety harness is required.
Spoiler- not allowed, no exceptions.
Chassis- OEM
U. Roll Cage- Full roll cage required. Minimum of three bars in driver door and minimum of two in passenger door. Must have support bar that crosses behind driver, side to side at shoulder height, with properly mounted safety harness. All roll bars inside driver’s compartment must be padded. Roll cage must be welded in or properly bolted in using ¼ “ steel plates.
