This
weekend, Murphy Speedway held its first annual Back-2-School Blowout
featuring a TOPLESS Limited Late Model Feature with $1,500 up for
grabs to the winner. The night started out with Bobby Giffen #97
setting fast time over Roger Best #007. On the start, the #007 of
Roger Best took the lead and led the first lap. On lap 2, Best
suffered mechanical failure and brushed the front straightaway wall
and spun to the inside of the track and was missed by Scott Curtis #61
by inches. On the restart, Bobby Giffen took the lead until lap 5 when
Giffen suffered mechanical problems. On the restart, Tommy kerr #4T
assumed the lead over Mike Ritchie #R11. Scott Curtis and jonathon
Davenport #49 battled for the 3rd position during the late stages of
the race. Mike Ritchie made a late race attempt to pass Tommy Kerr,
but, was sidelined with a blown engine on the last lap. Jonathon
Davenport also suffered a late race engine failure as Tommy Kerr took
the checkered flag. The Top-Five order was Tommy Kerr, Scott Curtis,
Jeff Franklin, Greg Huskey, and Jonathon Davenport. |
