A pair of spontaneous testing dates have been confirmed for the new
"mega" dirt track Murphy Speedway, in Sweetwater, Tennessee. Prior to
the running of the O'Reilly Southern All-Star Super Late Models Grand
Opening, "Sweetwater Summer Slammer 50 event on the Friday night, July
2nd, racers will be able to practice on Thursday nights for the next
two weeks. Pit gates will open at 4PM Thursday, June 24th and
Thursday, July 1st at to allow teams to gain some valuable seat time
at the high-banked 5/8 mile facility. Pit Prices for Thursday Testing
are $10 per person and there is no charge for watching in the
grandstands.
"We've been working at such a feverish pace, attempting to put some
final touches on the place." remarked Israel Campbell, PR Director for
the track. "The plan was have at least a couple practices before the
O'SAS event, we just ran out of time." The track has been bombarded by
visitors, calls and electronic messaging from enthusiastic folks as to
our Grand Opener and now that the track has announced it's support
divisions for the July 2nd race the inquires have doubled.
All divisions will compete on the big 5/8 mile oval Friday night,
July 2nd. For a complete list of the rules on all four of the
